What a garage door repair actually costs in Queens.

Every figure on this site is published by a named source and dated, because the one question this trade refuses to answer in writing is the only one you asked.

We are not the people who will fix your door. Tell us what it is doing and we put you in front of independent contractors in Queens who do this work. It is free and you are not committed to anything.

You don't need to know the part. Just what it's doing.

Pick the line that sounds like your door. The drawing will show you what has almost certainly failed, and what that repair is published at.

None of these sound right? Describe it in your own words and a contractor will work it out.

Sectional door, side elevation

Nothing selected. The drawing shows a standard sectional door as installed — spring and shaft above the opening, cables to the bottom brackets, rollers in the track, opener on the rail.

Select a symptom to mark the component.

What actually happens after you file.

Written out in full, because every step of this is a step where the trade normally goes quiet on you.

  1. STEP 01

    You describe the fault

Five questions, about ninety seconds. What the door is doing, how soon you need someone, your ZIP, and whether you own the property. Nothing about payment.

  2. STEP 02

    We pass it to contractors

Independent garage door contractors covering your ZIP receive it. They are not our employees and we do not supervise their work. You will hear from them directly, usually the same day.

  3. STEP 03

    You compare and decide

You take a quote, or you take none of them. Nothing here obliges you to hire anybody, and we are not paid by you at any point.

Why a price is posted here and nowhere else.

Vagueness is where the margin lives. A company that will not put a number in writing has kept the right to invent one in your driveway, once your car is trapped and the spring is already off the drum.

Regulators have been describing this exact pattern for years: a low advertised call-out fee, then a much larger number once someone is on site.

We can post the numbers because we are not the ones quoting them. That is the whole trick, and there is nothing clever about it.

On the record

Cited
  • Sued an operator over thousands of fake local listings, naming “garage door repair” among the targeted search terms.

  • Called for complaints after 23 reports of garage door services — misrepresentation, no written contracts, pressure for cash payment.

  • Scam alert on the bait-and-switch: advertise a low service fee, then demand more for “additional repairs” on arrival.

  • Investigated fake garage-door sites using local New York area codes to look like neighbourhood companies.

These are real published actions about this trade. None of them concerns any contractor in our network.

Tell us what the door is doing.

Ninety seconds, five questions, no payment details. You will hear from contractors directly — and if we have nobody covering your ZIP, we will say so rather than waste your afternoon.
